چکیده
Accurate modeling of contamination in subsurface flow and water aquifers is crucial for agriculture environmental protection. Here, we demonstrate a parallel algorithm to quantify the propagation uncertainty dispersal pollution flow. Specifically, consider density-driven estimate how from permeability porosity propagates solution. We take two-dimensional Elder-like problem as numerical benchmark, use random fields model our limited knowledge on permeability. well-known low-cost generalized polynomial chaos (gPC) expansion surrogate model, where gPC coefficients are computed by projection sparse tensor grids. The solver deterministic based multigrid method run parallel. Computation high-dimensional integrals over parametric space done too.

Density-Matrix Propagation Driven by Semiclassical Correlation
Methods based on propagation of the one-body reduced density-matrix hold much promise for the simulation of correlated many-electron dynamics far from equilibrium, but difficulties with finding good approximations for the interaction term in its equation of motion have so far impeded their application. These difficulties include the violation of fundamental physical principles such as energy co...
متن کاملAutomatic Propagation of Uncertainties
Motivated by problems in metrology, we consider a numerical evaluation program y = f(x) as a model for a measurement process. We use a probability density function to represent the uncertainties in the inputs x and examine some of the consequences of using Automatic Differentiation to propagate these uncertainties to the outputs y. We show how to use a combination of Taylor series propagation a...
متن کاملAcceleration-driven variable- density turbulent flow
We discuss turbulent dynamics and mixing of a variable-density flow subject to a uniformacceleration field. The flow resulting from initial misalignments of pressure and density gradients is investigated for small to large density ratios, with evidence that the smalldensity ratio flow is described by the Boussinesq approximation. A new shear-layer growth rate is reported. Spectra collapse when ...
متن کاملThe effects of cut-off walls on repulsing saltwater based on modeling of density-driven groundwater flow and salt transport
Abstract: A two-dimensional fully implicit finite difference model, which can be easily extended to three dimensions, is developed to study the effect of cut-off walls on saltwater intrusion into the aquifers. This model consists of a coupled system of two nonlinear partial differential equations which describe unsteady density-driven groundwater flow and solute transport. The numerica...
متن کاملDrag Reduction by Surfactant Solutions in Gravity Driven Flow Systems
Efflux time measurements are carried out for gravity draining of a liquid from a large cylindrical tank (where the flow is essentially laminar) through single exit pipe in the absence and presence of Cetyl Pyridinium Chloride (CPC) surfactant solutions. The variables considered are initial height of liquid in the tank, dia. of tank, length of the exit pipe and concentration of surfactant. T...
